Facial Chemical Peels

Facial chemical peels, a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone. An acid is applied to the skin to lower the pH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion. Chemical peels can also thicken the epidermis, increase dermal volume and stimulate collagen. Peel treatments improve skin texture and firmness, decreasing fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also even out skin tone, improve acne-prone skin and reduce the appearance of pore size.

At Midwest Laser Centre we use the AlumierMD peels - we offer superficial to medium depth peels known for their excellent results and safety profile. We believe in repeated treatments for progressive and gradual results, and to avoid the side effects and associated downtime and increase chance of side effects and downtime associated with deeper peels. Chemical peels are usually performed on the face, but may be used on the neck, decollete and hands.

Treatment Expectations

Beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight, and treatments take time to show results. A single chemical peels can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin; however, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne could take up to eight weeks and multiple treatments. Our clinic offers the Power Glow & Glow Peel which combines lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol. This creates a multipurpose resurfacing solution that exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates skin renewal. These two chemical peel options require a patient to not wash their face for the remainder of the treatment day and will show the signs of peeling 2-5 days after the treatment. We also offer a 20% BHA (salicylic acid) peel which is ideal of oily and acne-prone skin. The AHA duo peel contains the combination of 20% lactic acid and 10% glycolic acid to decrease the visible signs of aging and hyper-pigmentation. The Renew 30 or our “Red Carpet Peel” is a great option for the perfect glow before an event. This is a 30% lactic acid that targets skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, sun damage and large pores.
